#103: Axe Drop # 0103 Title: THE WALLS REMEMBER

Just when you finally let your guard down…
Just when you start believing someone might be different…
Just when you unlock the door and let somebody step inside the parts of you that you kept hidden from the world…
You get hit.
Not with a warning.
Not from a distance.
But from close enough to remind you exactly why you built those walls in the first place.
That kind of pain doesn’t just hurt.
It shell-shocks you.
It sends you right back into survival mode—questioning everything, replaying every conversation, and wondering how you allowed yourself to become vulnerable again.
Then you remember.
You stayed to yourself because being alone felt safer than being betrayed.
You kept the world outside because every time you opened the door, somebody eventually gave you another reason to close it.
But here is what I’m learning:
Protecting your peace does not mean becoming cold.
It does not mean nobody will ever be allowed back in.
It means access to you has to be earned.
Your trust is not weakness.
Your loyalty is not stupidity.
Your heart is not something people get to mishandle simply because you were brave enough to show it.
So build the walls again if you need to.
Take your time.
Heal in silence.
But don’t blame yourself for believing someone deserved a chance.
Their actions revealed who they are.
Your willingness to love revealed who you are.
And this time, when you rebuild, don’t build a prison.
Build a fortress—with a gate only the worthy are allowed to enter.
Built in Silence. Forged Through Fire.
